INTRODUCTION
ZigSaw was developed on a Zenith Z-100 computer with UCI's Easy-PC board
enhancement kit. ZigSaw's design has many possibilities for Educational
developement, Entertaining puzzle games, and Electronic circuit designing.
ZigSaw is provided for demonstration to allow the user group members a hands
on challenge of a computerized jigsaw puzzle. Enjoy your chance at solving
the Pirate puzzle and all comments pro or con will be accepted. ZigSaw will
continue to mature through user support. A conversion program is included
with the production version of ZigSaw. ZSC will convert Run Length Encoded,
Doodler V, and Basic BSave files to ZigSaw format. More puzzle files are
also included.

DISK SETUP
1. Initialize a floppy disk with the /S option to make a SYSTEM (floppy) disk or use a FIXED (hard) disk.
2. Insure COMMAND.COM is on the SYSTEM or FIXED disk.
3. Copy required programs from MASTER ZigSaw disk to SYSTEM or FIXED disk.
zs.bat (short cut to load ZigSaw)
zigsaw (introduction screen)
default.dzs (save and data disk drive default file)
zigsaw.exe (main program)
*.zsp (all puzzles have .ZSP extention)
NOTE: Files below are not needed on the SYSTEM or FIXED disk.

OPERATING ZigSaw
1. Insert SYSTEM disk with the ZigSaw programs into drive "A",
Boot up DOS, type "ZS" and ZigSaw will autoload.
ZigSaw Program
1. Skill Level:
<B>eginner - used pieces will be deleted from puzzle box.
'' - pieces cannot be placed on top of each other on puzzle board.
<E>xpert - all pieces will remain in puzzle box.
'' - pieces can be placed on top of each other on puzzle board.
<L>azy - exits to DOS.
2. Enter Puzzle name - [A:PIRATE ] (8 characters only, no extention required)
3. Drive, Puzzle, and Skill selections displayed.
<L>oad - load selected puzzle. (default is load)
<R>eset - return to skill level selection.
<S>etup - change default drive settings. ( DATA, SAVE )
4. Key Commands:
ENTER or RETURN key gets puzzle piece from puzzle box in upper left corner and puts piece on puzzle board.
ARROW keys move pieces within puzzle box.
ARROW keys also move pieces on puzzle board.
HOME key puts piece in place on board then returns control to puzzle box.
<E>dit - transfer control to EDITOR.
<Q>uit - option to save puzzle then exit ZigSaw program.
<S>ave - save puzzle then return control to puzzle box.
<?>help - displays completed puzzle.
<I>nstr - displays COMMAND KEY INSTRUCTIONS
<N>ew
Puzzle - resets program to load another puzzle.
5. Editor commands:
ARROW keys move edit box on board.
HOME key returns to puzzle box.
PGUP key gets (picks up) piece from board and places it into the edit box.
PGDN key puts (puts down) piece from edit box onto board.
DEL key deletes (removes) piece from board and returns piece to puzzle box.
6. Percent Correct / Used Pieces:
After each piece is placed on board the percentage of correct puzzle
completion is calculated. Total of used pieces is also calculated.
ZSC.EXE
ZigSaw Conversion program. (not included with DEMO DISK)
1. Converts Basic BSAVE, Doodler (*.PIC), and Run Length Encoded (*.RLE) files
to ZigSaw Puzzle format.
2. View ZigSaw Puzzles (*.ZSP).
3. Load picture filename must have an extension. -> [A:PIRATE.ZSP ]
4. Save/View Puzzle filename is only 8 characters. -> [A:PIRATE ]
(.ZSP is the default extension supplied by ZSC)
